How to Play Flabocce in Teams
Flabocce is a blast with with teams. More people means more cheers, more communication and way more moments where someone steps up and lands one. Here's how to run it without overcomplicating things.
The key thing to remember is that with teams, the setup and flow becomes a lot more like cornhole where one team member is shooting towards their teammate who is standing behind the target and communicating their view of the game.
Starting the Game
Have everyone stand in a circle and spin the Jack (full flabocce logo up) so it floats down in the middle. When it lands, whichever team the Flabocce logo points to controls the first frame.
The controlling team decides which direction they are throwing, places the tie breaker tool to become the starting line, and throws the Jack a minimum of 10 feet (no need to get super picky, but 2 lengths of the Tie Breaker tool is a good reference).
How a Frame Works
The entire game runs on one rule: the team furthest from the Jack shoots next.
At the start of each frame, after the controlling team throws, every other team is automatically "out" since they haven't thrown yet. To keep things moving with games that have more than 2 teams, follow a standard order until each team has thrown their first flab.
Once everyone has one throw in, the rule takes over naturally. After every shot, ask one question: who's furthest from the Jack? That team shoots next. If they're still furthest after their throw, they keep shooting. The moment a team is closer than someone else, their turn is over.
Team Roles
Each team has one designated shooter per frame. Everyone else stands behind the Jack, helps track shots, and calls out who's furthest. It becomes a team effort quickly — especially in tight frames.
Scoring
Once all flabs are played, the team closest to the Jack scores the point. If it's tight, use the Tie Breaker Tool to measure. Only one team scores per frame.
Controlling the Next Frame
The team that scores controls the next frame. They place the Tie Breaker Tool, throw the Jack, and shoot first. Everything repeats from there.
NOTE: You do NOT have to shoot back in the opposite direction. Get creative!
General Rules
- Rotate shooters each frame so everyone gets a turn.
- Play six frames. Highest score wins.
- If it's tied after six, play one more frame to decide it.
FUN VARIATIONS
- Scalps - Cancelled flabs get taken as scalps. If a team holding scalps get cancelled, they need to return the scalp to the owner.
- Cutthroat - Cancelled flabs are eliminated for the remainder of the game. Play until last team standing or winner after 6 frames.
- Landmines - Overlapping flabs are cancelled by the flab underneath.
