You know the feeling: the game gets close, the conversation gets quieter, and suddenly your throwing routine matters a lot.

That’s part of what makes cornhole satisfying. A straightforward action becomes a real test when the score gives it consequences.

If you enjoy that feeling, Flabocce offers another place to find it.

Follow the target

Flabocce is flat bocce played with soft discs. The target is a smaller disc called the Jack. Players compete to land their Flabs close to it, with overlaps that can cancel shots.

The objective gives you something easy to understand. The changing arrangement of discs gives you something to think about.

A great position can become a target itself. On your next throw, you might be aiming to get closer—or trying to cancel the disc that currently has you beat.

Bring your touch, then learn the landing

Your interest in aim, consistency, and pressure has a place here. The release and landing behavior will take their own practice.

Start with a comfortable distance. Watch where the disc first touches down and where it finishes. Try the same shot several times before changing your approach. On a new surface, repeat that process instead of expecting the same result immediately.

Give yourself time to learn the game on its own terms.

Pack it for a different occasion

Flabocce packs flat and plays indoors or outside, so you can bring it to occasions where hauling boards would take more planning. Choose an appropriate space and set the distance for the players joining you.

For your first session, play a few practice rounds, then use the full rules once everyone understands the basics. Let the competition grow from there.

The familiar part is watching a friend line up a throw and wanting very badly for them to miss. The new part is figuring out exactly where you want your own disc to land.

Explore Flabocce and bring another close game into the rotation.
