Flabocce Official Rules

Learn the basics then master all of the ways to play.

Each Kit Contains

The Jack

The Target. The ultimate goal is to cover the Jack completely for an instant win, or be closest to it to score points.

The Flabs

Each color has 4 Flabs to throw each frame.

Tie Breaker Tool

The Tie Breaker Tool serves as your starting line, a measuring device, and can tie together to contain all the Flabs.

Game Play

1. FLIP FOR CONTROL
One player flips The Jack, the other color calls heads or tails.

Winner controls The Jack and sets the frame. Other players challenge for control.

2. SET THE FRAME
Stand behind Tie Breaker Tool, throw The Jack between 2 beads to create target. Jack must land 10 feet from line.

3. SHOOT THE FRAME
The controller shoots first. Challenger(s) follow.

The color furthest away shoots until all attempts have been made.

4. SCORE THE FRAME
Only closest color to Jack scores, counting all flabs inside closest opponent shot.

(In the above example, red scores 2 points.)

The scoring color becomes Controller for the following frame.

CLEAN AND REPEAT
Challenger(s) collects all Flabs and returns The Jack and Flabs to the Controller.

From the new point the Controller repeats the process.

Highest score after 6 frames wins the game.

Bonus Covers

Earn additional points for flabs that cover the Jack

More About Scoring

SCORING ZONE
To be eligible to score, a flab must land within the distance of the Tie Breaker Tool (60").

Frames in which no flab lands within the scoring zone results in control being awarded to the previous controller.

SCORING DISPUTES
Disputed scores, in which the distance is too close to call or effectively measure, no points are awarded.

NIXES
Any overlapping flab eliminates the one underneath for that frame.

You cannot "undo" a nix once it occurs, regardless of future overlaps.

This applies to all flabs, including the shooter's, unless a variation of play is agreed on prior to the game beginning.

FOULS AND DELAY OF GAME

  1. STEP OVER STARING LINE. If stepping past the rope while throwing or throwing out of turn occurs, it results in disqualification of the Flab. The Flab cannot be retrieved during the frame and will not be scored.
  2. VISUAL INTERFERENCE OR BLOCKING: Frame forfeit. Other colors play out that frame.
**No infractions for audible interference. Trash-talking is highly encouraged.
  3. CONTROLLER THROWS A FLAB BEFORE THE JACK: Control of the Mark goes to previous controller.
  4. FLAB IRRETRIEVABLE OR OUT OF BOUNDS:Prior agreement on out-of-bounds essential. Frame forfeit for specified color. Retrieval time limit of 3 minutes.
  5. NO PLAYER GETS WITHIN SCORING RANGE: Controller loses control, must clean for next frame.
  6. MOVING FLABS IN SCORING POSITION BEFORE FRAME WINNER IS ESTABLISHED: Lose a Flab for next frame, if offender is scoring color, lose the closest flab for that frame.
